The Kavun printing house provides a wide range of printing services in Dnipro. Our team is made up of young, creative and ambitious professionals who work for the result. Well-organised work, innovative printing technologies and imported new-generation equipment let us bring any idea to life in bright colours, including the soft cover of a book.

Softcover

Modern technology has changed the way books are printed. Today an author who wants to print a book does not need to look for a large publishing house – it is enough to contact our printing house and use publishing services at quite reasonable prices.

Different types of binding are used to hold the inner block together. Soft binding is a glued fastening of separate sheets of paper, from 10 to 300 of them, together with a cover. The base of a soft cover is cardboard with a density from 80 to 300 g/m². The thickness of the spine for adhesive seamless binding ranges from 5 to 37 mm. The maximum format is A4 (portrait orientation), the minimum is A6 (portrait and landscape orientation).

There is a short classification of softcover types:

  • adhesive seamless binding – thermal bonding technology;
  • adhesive sewn binding – the block is stitched with threads before the glue is applied;
  • staple binding – staples are installed, most often two of them;
  • spring binding – done with a binding machine, using metal and plastic springs of different diameters and colours.

Whichever method you choose, the Kavun printing house will carry it out on modern equipment and in the shortest possible time.

Softcover technology

A paperback book consists of two parts.

  • The cover with its design – information about the author, the title and other data – holds the inner block together.
  • The inner block consists of sheets of a certain size folded in the specified order. There are two binding options: gluing to the cover, or stitching and then gluing to the cover.

For the covers we suggest coated or designer paper and thick cardboard. The inner block is most often made of offset paper, less often of coated paper when the number of pages is small. The formats of the cover and of the inner block can vary widely, from standard to individual sizes on request.

Softcover binding

Softcover for term papers, diplomas and abstracts

A softcover diploma is a budget alternative to bookbinding for additional copies of a paper. Flexible binding is done with:

  • a detachable plastic spring – the inner block turns through 180 degrees;
  • a one-piece soft plastic spiral – the inner block turns through 360 degrees;
  • a metal spring – the inner block turns through 360 degrees.

Thermal binding is also possible: the end of the inner block is fastened with glue and then sealed in a thermal binder inside a specially prepared PVC folder.

The service is useful for small brochures, for example for printing abstracts.

Soft binding of a book

The cost of a softcover

The range of prices for publishing and printing services in Dnipro is very wide, because everything depends on the parameters of the job: the size of the print run, the type of paper, the cover material, the additional finishing and much more. A soft cover is considered the budget option, and its price is much lower than that of a hardcover. This type of binding is widespread precisely because it is inexpensive and at the same time quite reliable.

Our designers and typesetters will prepare a print-ready layout of the book from your texts, and will also edit and proofread the manuscript.
