Hard cover

Since the invention of sheet binding, books have, as a result, been able to survive in their original form for many years. For example, old archives are perfectly preserved in their original form precisely due to the fact that the hardcover is of high quality.

Some details and information about hardcover

Hardcover, first of all, a reliable covering of the printed material with application of glue technology. This service, first of all, is most relevant for papers that are often used and, for example, must have a long service life.

Binding hardcover, of course, involves placing the printed and prepared inner block into a blank cover. It is made of sheets of thick cardboard, which, first of all, is pasted over with a special interwoven material (for example, balacron, laminated paper). Subsequently, the union of the book block and the binding cover is carried out using a flyleaf. As a result, such types of hard covers are in the greatest demand – these are 7BTs and 7B.

The most important thing that our printing house is especially proud of is that the work is done on the most modern equipment. If the customer wants to save money and not lose product quality, then our managers, of course, will explain in detail which types of paper are most compatible with the selected binding.

Advantages, advantages and disadvantages

A well-made hardcover, therefore, performs several tasks at once:

  1. First, protecting content from external factors;
  2. Secondly, high-quality fixation of all sheets;
  3. Thirdly, this is the face of the publication (after all, the reader judges the book, first of all, by the cover).

Let’s take a look at all the benefits first:

  • a wide range of binding materials,
  • exclusive finishing, for example: embossing, UV varnishing, stamping, lamination;
  • straight and rounded spine;
  • design of various printed publications: art albums, books, catalogs, diaries, children’s literature and, in addition, exclusive publications;
  • aesthetic appearance;
  • Ease of use;
  • strength;
  • quality;
  • durability;
  • status;
  • practicality.

Along with such positive features, of course, there are only a couple of minuses:

  • it is impossible to combine several materials;
  • the weight of the product increases.
  • As you can see, this service is, above all, the right solution for creating a product image.

Hardcover: manufacturing features

When ordering the printing of books in hardcover in our publishing house, customers, first of all, give preference to these demanded and popular types of binding.

In 7B, bumvinyl, cloth, or leather are used as the binding material, for example. And, after that, the cardboard of the binding cover is laminated with this textile. When binding, images are pressed with the help of clichés and selected metallized foil of various colors (for example, gold, silver, hologram, etc.).

7BTs binding uses a designer cover with a polymer coating and lamination (matt or glossy at the client’s choice). As a result, hard laminated binding enhances the aesthetics of products, emphasizing their original design and rich appearance, but also significantly extends durability.

Hardcover book design

твердый переплет

Often the cover for binding includes 4 or 6 components: cardboard sides, lagging and cover material, fastened with glue, and fastened to the block using endpapers.

The inner block is formed from several sewn “notebooks” with nylon threads, which, as a result, is attached to the cover. Notebooks are sewn together with a thread and, of course, cut to the ordered size. The made notebook in such firm cover, first of all, will serve very long.

In addition, glue gluing of the indoor unit is used if necessary to reduce the cost of binding.

Finishing on hardcover

With our technical capabilities, there are, of course, very, very many options for post-printing finishing works.

  1. Embossing, stamping, blind stamping, with or without metallic foil.
  2. Selective varnishing.
  3. Rounding the spine of the block.
  4. Lasse installation (various colors and widths).
  5. Installation of fixing rubber bands.

The decorative finish of the lid in the form of embossing is possible with the use of foil, most importantly, in different colors. In addition, embossing without foil is possible, in other words blind embossing. It is carried out not only on the front side of the cover, but also on the spine and back. Of course, a combination of different colors is acceptable.

Selective UV varnishing, most importantly, allows you to highlight some elements on the cover. After printing, the liner is laminated, for example, with a matte film. Finally, a gloss varnish is selectively applied according to a special template. In this way, the effect of highlighted images or letters is achieved.
